New residents welcomed at Alloura Waters

Moving into a retirement village can be daunting for new residents. There are so many new friends to make, so many activities to choose from and a few procedures to learn, such as completing a Maintenance Request Form when you need something done in your home. To make them feel welcome, the Resident Ambassadors host “New Resident Morning Teas” and one was held at Living Choice Alloura Waters just as the village was emerging from semi-lockdown due to COVID-19.

New residents Sandra and Tim Maloney, Lesley Hunter, Jim Smail, Judith Margin, Robyn Hardman and Marie Anderson were welcomed by the Resident Ambassadors to a Morning Tea in the Community Centre. Village Manager Leanne Maini introduced Susan Niezgoda from Living Choice Home Care who presented an informative talk on the services available to residents. This was then followed by a slide show of village life prior to COVID-19 restrictions.

“The slide show certainly gave our new residents a snapshot of what life is like in our fun-loving village in normal times,” said Ambassador Carol Peel. “Thank you to Kevern Rowe for providing the slides and to Gloria Reid and Leanne for the set-up. Also, thank you to fellow Ambassadors Rob, Kerrie, Brian, Jim, Heather, Joan and Barbara for their assistance in looking after our residents and adding to an enjoyable morning.”

Thankfully, since the Morning Tea was held, many activities have resumed at the village, including happy hours, exercise classes and social functions, and the new residents can now experience all the fun of retirement village living!
