
Newly opened Bridgeport Hotel scoops top awards
Just four months after its official opening, the Bridgeport Hotel at Murray Bridge has scooped two top awards at the AHA|SA 2021 Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence. The awards night was held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on 26th October and was attended by more than 750 guests and industry professionals.
The hotel, which is part of EDP Hotels, owned by Living Choice directors, Ian Tregoning and Graham Hobbs, was awarded Best Overall Hotel as well as Best Redeveloped Hotel – Country. It also received the Judge’s Commendation for Staff Development & Training.
General Manager of The Bridgeport, Mary-Lou Corcoran, said her focus in hiring was supporting the local community. “More than 120 local jobs have been created alone with ongoing support for regional produce and tourism across the Murraylands.”
Ian Tregoning and Graham Hobbs said they believed Murray Bridge had been long overdue for high quality accommodation. “The Bridgeport Hotel will act as a springboard for local tourism. The Bend, Monarto Zoo, golf, horse racing and all forms of river activities will all benefit enormously from the hotel’s development. Tourism in SA will have a new focal point in the Murray Bridge region helping all local businesses to flourish.”
The 6-storey Bridgeport Hotel is the largest, most luxurious hotel in the Murraylands and officially opened its doors on 8th June 2021 after a $45-million redevelopment.
The hotel includes 100 high quality, accommodation rooms. Each suite has a king bed, living and working area, bathroom and walk-in shower, locally commissioned artwork, in-room entertainment, room service and free WiFi. Guest facilities include dedicated under cover car parking, a gymnasium and an outdoor heated infinity pool and bar located on the hotel’s first floor overlooking the Murray River.
On the ground floor there is a sports bar, lounge bar, gaming lounge, alfresco terrace bar, and the Rivergum Restaurant which is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The ground floor also houses two private function rooms, the River Room and the Charles Sturt Room which are designed to cater for large scale events and functions. Adjacent to the Charles Sturt Room is a dedicated private conference room to suit 14 delegates.
The first floor features the largest private function space in the venue, The Murray Room, which can accommodate up to 300 cocktail guests and boasts its own spacious private bar, built-in stage, permanent dance floor and adjoining balcony showcasing the picturesque Murray River views.
