“No better place to be”, says Village President
Long-time Living Choice resident, John Williams, a well-known cricket umpire, says he is grateful to be living at Leisure Lea Gardens in Marsfield, especially during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“During COVID, our village has been in lockdown and Living Choice is to be congratulated that no cases have been reported at any of the villages. Our staff members at Leisure Lea Gardens have excelled in looking after the residents.
“Our Manager, Linda Savige has organised the delivery of meals to those who need them and has made sure that those who cannot see relatives are looked after. Our staff members have also helped with shopping, the recent Census, pharmaceuticals and many other day-to-day requirements.
“They have been stalwarts in doing extra duties, covering for each other when waiting for test results to come back or if they have to isolate. They have remained positive and supportive, greeting us with a warm smile.
“I have been living here for 10 years and I cannot think of a better place to be, especially during lockdowns. Another activity Linda has organised is a 10am walk around the village for those residents who wish to exercise. Occasionally, she is not available but there is always another staff member to take her place.
“I am in my second term as President of the Village Committee, which is inactive at this time as we cannot congregate. There are no darts, ladies’ craft days, carpet bowls or bus trips. However, when I come across a resident while walking, they are cheerful and looking forward to when things return to normal. So, I wish good things for the residents at all villages when the COVID lockdown ends!”
