NSW staff members celebrate at the races
After an exceptionally busy year, the staff members at Living Choice’s NSW villages enjoyed a day at the races to not only celebrate Christmas, but to raise funds for the Annual Domestic Violence and Abuse Awareness Race Day at Wyong Race Club.
As part of the sponsorship package, Living Choice received naming rights to one of the races and it was decided to name it after former NSW Construction Manager, John Elliott, who recently retired after 30 years of service with the company.
The sponsorship also included an advert in the race day program (see advert below) and was featured on the on-course logo display throughout the day.
The dress theme for the day was “Orange” and many staff members dressed accordingly. In between placing bets on all the races, they enjoyed lunch and drinks in the VIP Magic Millions Room. Congratulations to Rebecca Roese, Village Manager at Living Choice Deepwater Court, who was adjudged “Best Dressed”.
The Christmas Party was arranged by Home Care Operations Manager, Kylie Johnson, who rehomes retired racehorses. Not surprisingly, she had the winner of the “John Elliott Race” – a horse aptly named “Bat out of Hell”. After the race, Kylie, John, Group GM, Jason Sack and Regional Manager, Gail Eyres were granted access to the winners’ circle, where they met the horse, trainer and owners.
According to Gail, the day was a huge success and John, an avid horse lover, was thrilled and touched to have a race named after him.
