Oktoberfest comes to Kawana Island
Sadly, there was no Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany this year but this did not deter the fun-loving residents of Living Choice Kawana Island from celebrating this much-loved annual event. Resident Carole Harrison teamed up with her husband Michael and Manfred and Janne Bernhard to hold the event over three different nights, to comply with COVID-19 restrictions. Every event was fully booked!
“Manfred and Janne were in charge of the cooking and Michael was the washer-upper. I was chief of whatever organising needed to be done. It was a great team effort,” said Carole, adding that 32 guests attended each night with places being snapped up quickly. Both Manfred and Janne are qualified chefs and they prepared a delicious Schnitzel dinner for only $15 per head.
Other residents are organising events too, including a Ladies’ Lunch at Gun Cotton Coffee Café in Yandina on 29th October and a Men’s Lunch at the Caloundra Power Boat Club on 12th November. In addition, the popular Old Time Music Hall will be returning to the auditorium stage on 2nd, 5th, 6th, 16th and 19th December.
