Parkwood Vets show their appreciation
The Parkwood Seniors and Veterans’ Club holds an “Appreciation Day” to celebrate Christmas each year and this year, it was an extra special day in the club’s history.
President and Social Convenor, Allan McDonnell said all members over the age of 80 were invited to play golf and attend the Christmas lunch at no cost, in recognition of their service and support of the club.
“Originally, we had 137 members booked to play the 3 Person Ambrose, however due to the extreme weather, only 39 golfers braved the conditions and the competition was changed to a Single Stableford. Whilst the weather was against us, the spirit and camaraderie remained high and 150 members attended the Christmas lunch,” he said.
“The Club at Parkwood Village team is to be congratulated for helping to make this special day one to remember. We also thank our friends at Living Choice for their continued sponsorship of our club,” he added.
“Angelina Hackett presented the brave golf winners with their prizes donated by Living Choice and provided an update on the village’s development. The raffle consisting of two Living Choice golf hampers and 20 Christmas food hampers was very well-received.”
