President leads the way at January Vets Golf Day

2020 was a challenging year for golfers globally, but for the members of the Lower Murray & Hills Veteran Golfers Association, the COVID-19 pandemic only forced the cancellation of two tournaments – in April and May. The Vets have started 2021 strongly too, with a field of 79 golfers taking part in the January game at Flagstaff Hill Golf Club on 18^th January.

The January game is combined with the AGM when players compete for the Mike Dennis Memorial Trophy and fittingly, it was won by the President Brian Nankivell with 40 points. Living Choice has been a long-time sponsor of LM&H Vets Golf and also supports the Aberfoyle Park Lions Club, where Brian is the treasurer. The Lions Club members have provided the BBQs at many Living Choice Open Days and have been booked to do another BBQ at Living Choice Woodcroft’s Summer BBQ on 4^th February – see Join us for a summer BBQ at Woodcroft (livingchoice.com.au)

The Lower Murray & Hills Veteran Golfers Association celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2020 and in his annual report, Brian said the group was a credit to its founders, committees and members, continuing to deliver enjoyable and diverse golf experiences. It currently has just less than 200 members, including 4 Life Members and 20 ladies.

Brian said the sponsorship from Living Choice had been very welcome. “Besides their cash injection which has funded our monthly winner’s prize, Living Choice has been very generous with balls and other items to use as prizes and gifts. Their staff have attended our matches most months to address the members, and I am delighted to announce that they have agreed to continue the sponsorship in 2021.”
