Promoting the vaccination rollout
Living Choice Broadwater Court residents and staff are getting behind the NSW Premier’s plea to get vaccinated. Village Manager, Kathy Hall, says they have had a great response from residents advising they have had their COVID vaccinations.
“To ensure that their medical records are up to date, residents have been sending us copies of their vaccination certificates and this information has also been appreciated by ambulance staff. Thanks to those residents who have taken the time to let us know.
Kathy said she was also pleased to report that all village staff members had been vaccinated.
Waterfront Estate resident, Graham Harrison emailed a photo of himself following his second vaccination. “Both Elayne and I have had our second AstraZeneca jab. We just walked into Gosford Hospital and after a 2½-hour wait, I walked out with the happy snap attached. Elayne only had a sore arm and I had no reaction whatsoever.”
Gail Eyres, Regional Manager NSW, said all Village Managers had requested residents to provide their vaccination certificates to attach to their medical records. “As always, all medical information is confidential, but it does help when ambulance staff attend the village,” she said.
Living Choice Director, Ian Tregoning, said Living Choice was strongly supportive of the Government’s vaccination campaign. “Living Choice is a member of the peak industry body, the Retirement Living Council (RLC), which is encouraging all members to promote the vaccination rollout.
“Recently, Ben Myer, Executive Director of the RLC, wrote to all operators urging us to take the initiative and implement strong and consistent messaging around vaccinations. For some time now, we have been encouraging all residents and staff to become vaccinated as soon as possible. We have also offered staff members an incentive to become fully vaccinated.
“In a recent newsletter, the RLC noted that the industry had been exemplary in protecting residents and ensuring that correct protocols and restrictions were followed. Living Choice has been communicating with residents via the Village Communiques and updates its COVID-19 webpage weekly – or in some cases, every few days.
“By getting vaccinated, you protect yourself, your loved ones, the people you care about and the wider community. It’s the best chance we have to help end the pandemic.”
