QLD Gala Reward Event is worth the wait

Brenda Winter accepts the $5,000 voucher on behalf of her daughter, Victoria Taber, from Living Choice director Ian Tregoning.

Third time lucky. The annual QLD Gala Reward Event is usually held in the third week of July, was pushed back to September due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then finally got the green light to be held in early February. It was worth the wait!

Eighty guests, comprising successful referrers to Living Choice Kawana Island and Twin Waters, those they referred, Resident Ambassadors and staff members, gathered in the leisure centre at Kawana Island on Tuesday 2nd February. It was a wonderful afternoon filled with fabulous food, plenty of wine, beer and champagne, good music and lots of laughter. The auditorium was a picture, filled with green and orange décor, twinkling lights and colourful table centrepieces.

The Resident organisers, Heather Preston, Ronda Shoemark and Elizabeth Male, had planned the event for months and each time it was postponed, they had to start again, but always with a smile. Take a bow, ladies – it was spectacular! They were assisted by some very smart bowtie-clad men, Wayne Male, David Paton and David Thomas, who kept everyone’s glasses topped up. Meanwhile, talented musicians Shae and Ben had everyone tapping their toes under the tables.

The Gala Reward Event is an opportunity to thank referrers and Resident Ambassadors for their support and Living Choice director, Ian Tregoning, was pleased to report that in the 2019-2020 year, referral settlements had grown to 62 percent. “You are our Super Salespeople and we really value your support,” he said.

This year’s major prize was won by Victoria Taber of Twin Waters who referred her mum, Brenda Winter to Living Choice Twin Waters. Victoria, a teacher, could not attend the event but her delighted mum was there to accept the $5,000 gift voucher on Victoria’s behalf. Kawana Island resident, Yvonne Whitecross was runner-up and received a $150 gift voucher.

With COVID-19 restrictions easing, the 2020-2021 event is still on track to be held later this year. For more information about the Referral Program, see Refer and Win at Living Choice retirement villages
