Residents impress on the golf course
Many Living Choice residents are notable golfers but two deserve special mention for their recent achievements on the golf course – Julie Short of Living Choice Fullarton and Wendy Butler of Living Choice Flagstaff Hill.
Julie, who has been playing golf for nearly 30 years, recently won the prestigious annual McCracken Cup at McCracken Golf Club, the first time she has won it. “I have played in it quite a few times and the closest I have come is 5th. It’s a two-day Stableford event and everything fell into place on the day. I scraped in by one point!”
Julie has won various events over the years and was A Grade Club Champion in 2007. “The lowest handicap I have played off is 14, but as the years go by the handicap has gone out,” she added.
Meanwhile, at Flagstaff Hill Wendy Butler is making the most of being able to drive next door in her golf buggy to the Flagstaff Hill Golf Club where she plays Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, she assists at the Junior Golf Clinics on Wednesdays and the Chip & Sip Ladies’ Clinics on Fridays.
Wendy recently teamed up with Mark Jante to win the annual Mixed Foursomes Championships, a Board event. The competition was played over two weekends and Wendy and Mark won the Strokeplay event convincingly.
