Residents value popular “Birthday Bash” tradition

Every month, at every Living Choice village, a “Birthday Bash” is held to honour residents who are celebrating a birthday that month. These important events, which are sponsored by Living Choice, have been held for many years and are organised by resident volunteers or, in some instances, by village staff members.

At Living Choice Twin Waters, the birthday morning teas have been arranged for many years by long-time ambassadors, Thelma Richardson and Dorothy Blythe with assistance from many kind-hearted helpers. At the November celebration, held on 9th November, they were assisted by Jean Hoy and Sue Tomlinson.

QLD Home Care Case Manager, Dee Evans, also attended as well as Regional Manager, Tracy Blair, who commented on the larger than normal attendance. “Perhaps it has something to do with Valentine’s Day falling in February!”

After enjoying tea, coffee and tasty sandwiches, Tracy congratulated each resident and provided some interesting trivia about what happened on their birthday in past years. Dee presented small gifts on behalf of Living Choice Home Care and then it was time for the cutting of the cake, a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” and the obligatory group photo.

It was a lovely event with everyone enjoying the opportunity to socialise and celebrate their special day with fellow residents. Thank you to the volunteers and staff members who make it happen!
