Sandy looks forward to a new adventure at Living Choice Flagstaff Hill

It’s been a challenging six months for Flagstaff Hill Golf Club member, Sandy Mitchell, who lost her beloved husband, Leith, after a short illness. They had both recently retired and “downsized” to a home in Craigburn Farm to enjoy their retirement when Leith’s sudden terminal diagnosis came like a bolt out of the blue.

“Without Leith, my house is no longer a home so on the day Living Choice Flagstaff Hill was launched, I signed up for my villa. Now I am very positive about the future and am looking forward to a new adventure,” said Sandy.

Sandy and Leith lived in the Flagstaff Hill area for 44 years and Sandy worked in the aged care industry for 35 years, including in palliative care. She never dreamed she would one day be taking care of her husband. She has been a club member for around 35 years and at one time, they lived adjacent to the 1st tee. “Living Choice Flagstaff Hill is going to be a wonderful alternative and I’m looking forward to being in the company of like-minded people, joining them for a meal and a drink and if I feel like playing a few holes, I’ll be able to call a friend and everything will be so close. Perhaps it will even improve my handicap!”

Sandy’s family is very supportive of the move, especially the six grandchildren. “My 17-year-old grandson is a club member and also plays A Grade football at Flagstaff Hill. My 6 and 9-year-old grandchildren love having a hit too.”

Sandy is also looking forward to using the Wellness Centre which will be included in the new clubhouse. “It’s time to focus on my own health. There have been times when I’ve felt very down but now I’m looking forward to the future.”
