Stars align for Queensland Gala Reward Event
With everyone holding their breath and praying that Queensland would not go into a snap lockdown, the stars aligned and the 2021 QLD Gala Reward Event could go ahead as planned at Living Choice Twin Waters on 15th September.
It was second time lucky as the first event was cancelled with just a few days’ notice when a COVID-19 cluster in Brisbane sent South-East Queensland into lockdown in August. The new date proved lucky for Twin Waters resident, David Greenhalgh, whose name was drawn as the winner of the $5,000 UChoose Gift Card. Living Choice director, Graham Hobbs, was able to fly in from Adelaide to personally present the prize.
David referred his cycling buddy, Brian Holliday and his partner, Anne Crosbie to the village and was over the moon when his name was drawn out. “I never win anything – this is just amazing!” Coincidentally, David was sitting at the same table as the consolation winners, Peter and Bev Jerdan, who received a $200 Coles Myer gift card.
More than 80 people attended the event, including those who had successfully referred friends to Twin Waters or Kawana Island during the period 1st July 2020 to 30th June 2021, the residents they had referred, Resident Ambassadors from both villages and Living Choice staff members. Visiting residents from Fullarton, Helen Bonet and Sandra Maynard, also attended and assisted with the draw.
Following the event, many residents expressed their appreciation and awe for the beautiful décor, the delicious food prepared by The Pool Café at Peregian Beach and the music by Noosa musician, Harii Bhandhu. There were many resident helpers, however special mention must go to Robert Airs and Dorothy Blythe, who masterminded it all. It was a memorable afternoon!
