Sunshine Coast walk for Cancer
Unfortunately a staggering one in six Queensland women will be diagnosed with a women’s cancer by the age of 85, but thanks to Living Choice Kawana Island residents, much-needed funds are being raised. In 2004 Walk for Women’s Cancers was founded by Cassandra Munson to give hope to Queensland women affected by cancer.
This year Kawana Island residents, Mary Paton, Renata Kondschalk and Sue Taylor walked towards a cure for women’s cancers. They walked 3km from Alexandra Headland to Mooloolaba in beautiful Sunshine Coast weather on 15th September. Sue Taylor, who has a bad hip and knee, wasn’t sure she could do it, but she did with no injuries and it has boosted her confidence for another one. We are so proud of these ladies and even prouder of our Kawana Island village for raising over $255 at their recent Friday night happy hour.
Designed to unite, celebrate and remember those affected by women’s cancers, the event has a strong community connection, attracting families and individuals to come together to walk and fundraise for the future of women. It’s great to see our residents getting out in the community and doing their bit. We can’t wait to cheer the ladies on in 2020!
