Take a bow, Damien Hein
Friday 27th May was “Sad Friday” at Living Choice Fullarton when the residents said farewell to their much-loved Chef, reports SANDRA MAYNARD.
For the past eight years, Chef Damien Hein and his team have fed and watered the residents, their families, friends and countless members of the public at his popular and unique restaurant “Damien on Fisher”, located at Living Choice Fullarton.
There wasn’t a spare seat to be had in the Great Hall as residents flocked to the Friday Happy Hour to farewell their Chef who has decided it’s time to pass the hospitality baton to a new Restaurateur.
In her thank-you speech, Sandra recalled how she introduced Damien to Ian Tregoning and Graham Hobbs when she suggested at a meeting during the village construction, that they dine where Damien was then working.
“They were looking for someone special to operate the restaurant and cafe in their unique apartment-only village. The partnership was sealed quickly after they sampled Damien’s culinary skills and Damien set about designing the kitchen.”
General Manager Jason Sack spoke of Damien’s caring personality which turned the restaurant and cafe from a facility to a community where residents wanted to be together. Ross Sweet, Chairperson of the Residents’ Representative Committee, presented Damien with an Apple gift voucher as a show of appreciation from the residents.
Damien has served the Fullarton community above and beyond all expectations, especially during the COVID-19 crisis when his restaurant was closed, however he sold residents their takeaway basics of bread, milk, eggs, fruit and vegetables. He will be greatly missed.
