Talented Ella receives Living Choice Music Award
Living Choice Fullarton and Concordia College have a strong bond which has lasted many years, long before the village opened. Over the years, the relationship has strengthened with students and teachers visiting the village regularly to attend cultural events or enjoy refreshments at the onsite restaurant Damien on Fisher and Hudson’s Café. Many residents have grandchildren at the college and those with views over the college sportsgrounds enjoy watching the students play sport from the comfort of their balconies.
The alliance with the college’s Music Department is particularly strong and Living Choice sponsors an annual Music Endowment Award, which this year was presented to talented musician, Ella Brock-Fabel. Village manager Brian Lynch had the honour of presenting the award at the school’s assembly recently and was delighted to receive a thank-you note from Ella.
“I would like to say a very big “thank-you” to Living Choice for selecting me to be the recipient of the Living Choice Fullarton Instrumental Music Award for 2019. I have been involved in the music program at Concordia College since I started there in Year 8 and over that time have had instrumental lessons for Violin, Saxophone and Clarinet and have been involved in many of the ensembles during this time. I am now in Year 12, studying Music as part of my International Baccalaureate Degree and still having lessons on the Saxophone and Clarinet, as well as being a member of Big Band 1, Concert Band, Orchestra, Funk Band, Choir and Pit Band.
“I really enjoy the community spirit of playing with an ensemble where every member is contributing to creating music, and the Concordia Music Department has provided me with many fantastic opportunities. For Living Choice Fullarton to create an Instrumental Music Award to support students such as myself is a very generous and kind thing to do and I am very appreciative to be the lucky person chosen this year. My parents are also very grateful as they have supported me with all my music.”
Congratulations, Ella – the award is very well-deserved!
