Tears of joy at SA’s Gala Reward Event
There were lots of tears shed at the Gala Reward Event held at Living Choice Woodcroft on 18th July, but they were tears of joy! Woodcroft resident Roy Scholz was overcome with emotion when his name was announced as the winner of the $5,000 travel voucher for successfully referring Phil and Rosemary Headon to the village.
Roy’s wife Raelene, who is recovering from a heart operation, was unable to attend but that did not stop Roy from running home to persuade Raelene to accompany him back to the leisure centre. “I really did not want to go but he was insistent,” said Raelene. “When I got there and heard the news, I was in shock and had to sit down. My daughter was visiting at the time and burst into tears. Health-wise, it’s been a tough year and we are so looking forward to going away for a break.”
Sales consultant Katherine Stacey said Roy and Raelene were very popular and deserving winners. “Roy has a massive heart and will do anything to help and Raelene has been a great help at Open Days. Everyone at the function was genuinely pleased for them.”
Twenty-eight successful referrals were received for both Woodcroft and Fullarton this year and Living Choice director Graham Hobbs thanked all the referrers for their support. Overall, referrals accounted for 54% of total sales in the Living Choice group in the last financial year but both Woodcroft and Fullarton excelled, notching up 76% and 50% respectively.
The South Australian event was superbly organised by Jan Clements and her team of helpers from both Woodcroft and Fullarton, including Eleanor Woods, Valerie Bald, Chris Hicks, Helen Bonet, Chris Murray and the “bar-tenders”, Mary and Barry Nolan and Patsy and Roger Trevor. They made an eye-catching team, all sporting blue bowties.
Guests enjoyed a mouth-watering selection of food throughout the afternoon and were entertained by talented violinist, Emily Flierl.
