Trees of hope – Twin Waters spreads kindness this festive season

As the festive season is fast approaching, the trees are going up and the lights are coming out. However, for some people, this time of year can be extremely challenging.

Ian and Maree Lawson of Living Choice Twin Waters coordinate a Christmas collection for the homeless on behalf of The Shack Community Centre, and this year everyone can get involved. Due to COVID-19, this year will look a little different. Therefore the ‘Trees of hope’ Hamper Appeal has been launched.

For those that are not living at Living Choice Twin Waters, there are ways you can get involved. You have a few options. Head into the Living Choice Twin Waters Leisure Centre and collect a black ‘Trees of hope’ bag, where you will also find a list of items that are required. There are three lists available – for individuals, couples and families, to cater for everyone. Once the bag is full with the items off one list, simply drop the bag back to Twin Waters.

You can also collect the black bag and grocery list from Twin Waters Pharmacy, 6/175 Ocean Dr, Twin Waters, fill with goods and return it back to the pharmacy. The goods will be collected daily and taken back to Twin Waters. If you prefer not to buy all the perishables from the list, smaller donations are welcome. We assure you that all goods will go into filling the hampers.

No donations are too small and if shopping is not your thing, you can make a cash donation to Ian Lawson. If a receipt is required, please contact Ian on 0417 626 103. The last day to donate hampers will be December 8, giving the team time to pack all the hampers and deliver the goods in time.

After the year that has been, spreading the Christmas cheer to everyone has never been more important.
