Twin Waters residents to the rescue

Our craft group members at Living Choice Twin Waters retirement community, under the direction of resident Carol Baker-Finch, have been busy making knitted items for The Shack Community Centre where they will be distributed to the homeless just in time for Winter. Pictured is Jean Hoy, with over 50 beanies and 30 scarves of excellent quality, thanks to the craft group’s hard work!

Residents at Twin Waters have done plenty of fundraising work in the past for The Shack, a local Sunshine Coast organisation that is committed to helping those who are homeless, battling addiction, are victims of domestic violence or just need assistance. Annually, in June, a fundraising Morning Tea is held at the village, where everyone digs deep to support the charity, but due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, the fundraiser will not go ahead in 2020. In light of this, Twin Waters residents have banded together to provide much-needed items including knitted goods, clothing and cash donations.

It’s great to see that even in times like this, we can all work together to provide for those who need it most in our local community, especially with the Winter fast approaching.
