Veteran golfers defy dire weather forecast

A group of 60 hardy golfers arrived for the Lower Murray & Hills Veteran Golfers’ August tournament held at Thaxted Park Golf Club. They were all prepared to be drenched at some time in the morning as the forecast wasn't pretty!

“As it turned out, the morning was just lovely and there were only a few drops of rain as we walked off the 18th hole,” said Colin Stevens.

“The course was well-presented and even better, our fantastic sponsors Living Choice were in the clubrooms to welcome us. After lots of banter, some warming food and the odd glass of red, the awards were presented,” he added.

Congratulations to Jeff Ragless, the overall winner with 39 points. Following him were four players on 36 points - Garry Bockman, Ian Pedler, George Melville and Allan Horsfall.

The next LM&H Veterans’ Golf Tournament will be held at Murray Bridge on Monday 19th September.
