Warm welcome for Vets at
Flagstaff Hill Golf Club
The Lower Murray & Hills Veteran Golfers play at a number of golf courses throughout the year but had not played at Flagstaff Hill Golf Club in some time. That all changed on Monday 22nd May when 56 players arrived for the monthly tournament and could see first-hand the construction taking place at the adjacent Living Choice Flagstaff Hill, the association’s long-time sponsor.
Vets’ President, Colin Stevens, said the work being done at `Flaggy’ was amazing. “The Hut (temporary clubhouse) proved ideal for our presentations which we did after partaking in a fantastic gourmet BBQ lunch provided by Brian Nankivell's Lions Club. The lunch was partly subsidised by Living Choice – thank you.”
Colin said the scores were “solid without being spectacular”. “However, we should mention Lisa Rasheed who backed up her 42 points at the Vets State Championships last Thursday with a very good 39 points at Flaggy to win 2nd prize in B Grade.
“The course was in good condition although new players to the course struggled with understanding that your ball would run off to the sloping side even if you hit it down the middle! We were made very welcome by Living Choice residents, Les Seatree and Hans Muhlack, who added a great spark to the presentations.”
