Women edge out men in Seniors’ 9-Hole Challenge
Twice a year, the Seniors’ Nine-Hole Golf Group at Flagstaff Hill Golf Club hold a Men vs Women’s Challenge, followed by lunch and, not surprisingly, it is keenly contested!
The format is an Individual Stableford with the team scores added together and decided by the number of players. The first Challenge of the year was held on 4th May and 32 women and 30 men took part.
Living Choice Flagstaff Hill resident, Wendy Butler, was very pleased to report that the women scored 455 (14.2 points) and the men had 423 (14.1 points), meaning the women won by a narrow margin.
It was a good day for Living Choice resident, Anne Graham who won the ladies’ section with a great score of 22 points.
Living Choice sponsored the popular competition and prior to teeing off, Salesperson Sue Lock, Village Manager, Frances Parolin and Resident Ambassador, Di Jowsey served champagne, orange juice and chocolates to all the participants. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed chicken or fish and vegetables from the Golden Chicken at O’Halloran Hill.
Congratulations to all the winners:
Women: 1st Anne Graham 22pts; 2nd Chris Hodges 20pts; 3rd Velli Agate 20pts.
Men: 1st Doug Cossey 20pts; 2nd David Magraith 18pts; 3rd Colin Wilson 18pts. – Note: Colin is 97 years old and hits a very good ball!
The raffle was won by Joylene Curnow.
