It’s officially Spring again and for residents at Living Choice Twin Waters, it means the start of Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child for another year. Led by Barbara Potter and Elizabeth Harlen, residents at Twin Waters are now busy filling shoe boxes with small gifts to send to underprivileged children as part of the charity work for Operation Christmas Child.
The initiative began 14 years ago with a small group of ladies from the Monday Craft Group participating. Over the years other residents heard about the project and began to take part and last year, an incredible 78 boxes were filled by the village’s residents and friends.
Shoe boxes from Australia and New Zealand are distributed in the Asia-Pacific region to countries which include Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Vanuatu, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and Fiji. The children who receive the boxes may be victims of famine, war, natural disasters and disease and many have never received any sort of gift in their lives.
Great work everyone – we love seeing our residents getting involved and helping to make a difference in projects such as Operation Christmas Child.
