Deepwater Court Retirement Village Resident Stories

Life at Deepwater Court is the life my husband and I dreamed of. It was the best move we ever made moving in nearly 8 years ago. Questions friends frequently ask me are `why did you move into a retirement village’, `how did you choose a village’, ` are you glad you decided to make the move’, `do you have an outside area and garden to sit in’ and `what type of amenities are there’? I can answer all of the above without hesitation.

I knew I would move into a village eventually and waited until I was sure the time was right for me.

Deepwater Court in Woy Woy is not far from the home I lived in. It’s in a convenient location close to local shops, medical centres and public transport. The villas are built on flat ground – no more climbing 25 steps to my front door.

We have good communication with management by way of meetings and the residents have a committee so that any concerns can be taken up by the committee.

Activities vary and it is a personal choice – monthly outings, happy hours, monthly dinners, card games, swimming etc. It is good to socialise and I enjoy meeting people. It is also good to keep in touch with one’s pre-village life

Should help be required the office manager or the call system is on hand to help. Some people hesitate about moving into a village thinking neighbours will be intrusive but that is not my experience at all – just friendly smiles, a wave and a “hello”. For me, Living Choice was a very wise move.

We are convenient to all transport, medical centres, shopping facilities, recreational clubs and restaurants. We also have easy access to ferries to Palm Beach.

Being a small village the interaction between the residents is one of friendship, with the feeling of security, and an added bonus of the wonderful gardens we all enjoy.

Deepwater Court is great because its location in Woy Woy lets me easily maintain my contacts. Having somebody else look after the maintenance is great too.

Of all the retirement villages I looked at on the Central Coast, Deepwater Court was the best location – on level ground, shops, transport and entertainment readily available – I’m delighted to be here.

The village is small and I know all the people – they’re friendly and genuinely interested in each other’s welfare, without intruding on anyone’s privacy. The village’s facilities and activities (dinners, movies, bus trips, aquarobics, snooker, exercises, knitting, indoor games etc) are appropriate to its size, with sympathetic management. I have a wonderful social network, backed by a strong Residents’ Committee.
