Situated between Dural and Castle Hill in the beautiful Hills District of Sydney, Living Choice Glenhaven offers pet-friendly retirement living in a safe and beautiful environment. The village is renowned for its beautiful gardens and has won many awards, including the 2021 Hills Garden Awards in its category.

Although you feel like you’re living in the countryside, there is easy access to fantastic shopping facilities with a scheduled bus service at the entrance to the village. There are excellent leisure facilities, 24-hour emergency response and a co-located Arcare Aged Care Residence. Due to the village’s popularity, plans have been announced to extend the village and expressions of interest are now being accepted.

The stunning leisure centre has recently been extended to cater for the wide variety of social events and activities. There is a shopping village within walking distance and the nearby Round Corner and Castle Towers shopping centres offer a rich mix of retail outlets.

Leisure Centre

The five-star leisure centre has panoramic views of the adjacent forest and has an indoor heated pool, gym and spa, movie theatre, library, craft room, workshop, computer area, pampering centre, billiards room, auditorium with dance floor, lounge and bar. You can also enjoy a friendly game on the bowls green, putting green or tennis court.

Bush Garden

Glenhaven retirement village has a beautiful bush garden where you can enjoy nature at its best. It includes 220 metres of all-weather paths, shelters, a water feature with fish and seating. The bush garden has attracted many species of birds, including kookaburras, blue wrens, parrots, green finches and whip birds..

Bowls and Tennis

Living Choice Glenhaven has its own bowls green and tennis court and has attracted many keen bowlers and tennis players from nearby bowls clubs, such as Dural and Castle Hill. Organised bowls and tennis are held twice a week, although residents and their friends can play whenever it suits them.

Veggie Garden

The village’s raised vegetable and herb gardens have flourished under the watchful eyes of a dedicated group of resident volunteers. The harvest is placed in a basket in the leisure centre in return for a gold coin donation. There is also a citrus garden.

You will be spoilt for choice at Glenhaven retirement village! Choose from snooker, craft, woodwork, writers’ group, art, choir, Mahjong, bridge and other card games, scrabble, poetry, finance group, movies – the list goes on!

Sport and Fitness

It’s easy to keep fit at Living Choice Glenhaven with a wide range of activities on offer to keep you supple and healthy – aquarobics (both ladies’ and men’s classes), tai chi, Seniors’ Exercise conducted by a trained instructor, bowls, tennis, petanque, croquet, table tennis, putting and carpet bowls are all available.

Social events

The village has a very active Social Committee which arranges fun events throughout the year, including a trivia evening, Burns’ Night, Melbourne Cup, Australia Day and other commemorative events, village anniversaries, harbour cruises, interesting guest speakers and bus trips to places of interest.

Easy access to shops

Glenhaven residents have easy access to everything with a scheduled Hills Bus service at the entrance to the village and a bus which takes residents on shopping trips. There is a Woolworths and Aldi Supermarket at nearby Round Corner, Cherrybrook Shopping Village is nearby and the prestigious Castle Towers shopping centre is a 15-minute drive. For everyday purchases, there is shopping village within walking distance.

Care and security at Glenhaven

Residents at Living Choice Glenhaven value the sense of safety and security that comes from living in a retirement village with monitored entry and caring staff and neighbours who look out for you. The village is also located in a beautiful, safe area.

The village currently offers luxury Independent Living with staff on-site 5 days per week and 24-hour emergency response provided by Tunstall Healthcare. Living Choice Home Care is also available, offering a wide range of services, either through a Government subsidy or on a user-pays basis.

Living Choice also recognises that residents may need a higher level of care in the future and sold part of the retirement village site to Arcare Aged Care to build, own and operate an Aged Care Residence on the South West corner of the village site. The 5-star residence opened in September 2017 and several residents are now living at Arcare. Applicants are subject to the normal assessment criteria and availability varies.

Health and Home Care

As an Approved Provider, Living Choice Home Care offers residents a wide range of services, including cleaning, transport, shopping and personal care. There is also a visiting doctor who consults in the village’s medical room once a week. A podiatrist and hairdresser visit weekly and there is a monthly mobile dental clinic.

Village manager

Living Choice Glenhaven’s much-loved manager Gail Eyres has been described by residents as “the rudder and sails” of the village. She has developed a ‘Buddy System’ to assist residents when she is off-site and also guides residents and their families regarding care services provided by outside providers.

Emergency Response

Peace of mind is assured with the Tunstall Healthcare Personal Alarm System installed in all homes and common areas. A waterproof pendant is also supplied. At the touch of a button residents can press their pendant or Help button to be connected to an off-site Tunstall Nurse who will assess the emergency and summon an ambulance, if necessary. All village staff have First Aid training and will also respond to emergencies during office hours.

Co-located Aged Care Residence

The co-located Arcare Aged Care Residence opened in September 2017 and provides a high standard of care and accommodation facilities. Arcare is an Australian government-endorsed aged care provider with over 40 years of experience in seniors’ living.
