Weather shines for annual Dural Bowls Carnival

Dural Country Club Bowls Club hosted the annual Living Choice 2 Bowl Triples Tournament on Friday 27th May. The tournament attracted 22 teams from St Ives, Dural, Pennant Hills, West Pennant Hills, The Hills club, Denistone, Beecroft, Harbord, North Epping, Castle Hill and as far away as Mannering Point.

Robert Whiddon, President of the Dural Bowls Club, said after all the bad weather they had experienced it was great to be able to play bowls in perfect conditions. “It was 26 degrees with not a cloud in sight,” he said.

“The games consisted of 3 games of 10 ends of 2 bowl triples and they were played in a very friendly manner with lots of good banter going around. Every bowler seemed to enjoy themselves, whether it was the fact that they were playing bowls or just out in the sunshine with a lot of mates, something most of us haven’t been able to do in the last couple of years.

“We must thank Living Choice for sponsoring these carnivals as without sponsorship, carnivals wouldn’t happen and Living Choice has been a great sponsor of bowls for a long time now,” he said.

Congratulations to the winners – a team from Dural comprising Doug Farlow, Paddy Gaul and Mike Keane. Special congratulations to Mike who has only been playing bowls for one month!
