Living Choice and the residents at Broadwater Court have been long-time supporters of the Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre, which is situated adjacent to the village. Since 1996, the centre has been providing community members with a space to meet, learn, connect and find support. Many Broadwater Court residents also volunteer their time to assist with some of the centre’s programs.
Recently Jodie Shelley, Village Manager, paid a visit to the centre to present a donation of $600, on behalf of Living Choice. It was gratefully accepted by the Centre Manager, Colette Baron and Centre Coordinator, Leanne Clarke. “We had a great chat and they were extremely grateful for our ongoing support. They said they had been very busy during COVID with so many people out of work, so the donation could not have come at a better time,” said Jodie.
Colette said the donation would help the centre to continue to be the “heart and hub of the community by providing a safe environment, opportunities and support, where the community can come together”.
The centre’s aim is to provide as many different opportunities for connecting as possible. These include its own programs or groups, such as KNC Youth Brekky Club, KNC Food Pantry, Kincumber Boomerang Bags, Craft & Connect, Tax Help, Playgroup and School Holiday Workshops. The centre offers many courses and opportunities on a weekly basis. The November calendar includes the Wayward Youth Theatre, KNC Food Pantry & Second Bite, Craft & Connect, Active & Healthy, Chair Yoga, Namaste Yoga, The Homework Club and Telling True Stories.
The centre’s school holiday and after-school activities for primary aged children are always popular, with a great mix of movement, arts and crafts. The University of the Third Age and Seniors’ Computer Club Central Coast also offer many classes - drawing, foreign languages, beginners’ smartphones and tablets and a whole lot more.
